George Salmins Photography | About
I graduated as a civil engineer from the University of Toronto a long time ago. At that time my dream was to be a writer, but I ended up spending most of my working life as an engineer. It actually surprised me that I was very good at what I did.

I am now retired and can spend my time on one of my major loves: photography.

I started out in photography when a national construction and engineering magazine in Toronto hired me as an editor/writer/photographer. I spent five years there, then moved back to being an engineer. I've lived in Ontario, nearly 20 years in the Yukon and the past 20 or so years on Vancouver Island.

I've collected a ton of negatives and slides over the years, but for the last few years I have only used digital cameras. So most of the photographs on this site are digital. I will add some digitized film photos as I sort through my files.

If you are looking for something specific, say a photo of something from the Yukon or perhaps an archival construction photo, email me at and I will get back to you.

I sell my photos for very reasonable prices and I will always consider requests for editing and changes. Prices for this kind of work can be negotiated to everyone's satisfaction. My photos will not break your bank.

Any photograph that you see on this site can be either color or black and white. If you want to see what a photo will look like in some other configuration or color transformation, email me with the file name and I will email you back with a sample. The same applies if you want a message (birthday greetings, get well message, etc.) added to the photo.

I'm easy to get along with - don't be afraid of asking for something special.
